Tong Cup
This Junior Pairs competition, hosted at Havelock North, is usually a two-day event but cold wet weather on Saturday shortened it to one day's play on Sunday. Bowls Taradale fielded five teams and the team which performed the best from our club was that of Dave Roberts and Gig deRidder. Well done Dave and Gig.

QUOTE
The happiest of people
Don't necessarily have the best of everything
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

COACH - ON THE MAT
Place anchor foot (R foot if a right hander) on centre of mat pointing along delivery line
Place lead foot (L foot) adjacent and parallel to anchor foot
Feet are hip-width apart and weight evenly distributed
Shoulders and hips square to the intended line
Body relaxed and upright
Anchor foot remains on mat during delivery
Most of the weight transfers to the lead foot as the bowler steps out to bowl

Question: You are standing on the mat watching your bowl roll towards the jack. Sometimes a bowl finishes past the jack, sometimes it stops before the jack. If your bowl is 1 metre short of the jack is it high or low?

Jack Low  or  Jack High?

Celibacy
Many aspects of human sexuality are puzzling, take
celibacy. This can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by environmental factors.

While attending a Marriage Encounter Weekend, Fiona and Bill listened to the instructor declare, 'It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other.'

He addressed the men. 'Can you each name and describe your wife's favourite flower?'

Bill leaned over, touched Fiona’s arm gently and whispered, 'Self-raising, isn't it?'

Thus began Bill’s life of celibacy.

Ever Wanted to Be A Movie Star?
When I put stuff like this in our newsletter you know I am really kicking for touch!

Several years ago I used my still camera to make a movie of four people bowling. I did it just to teach myself how to join small movies together and add a bit of music. Would you believe 1684 people have viewed that movie. How dumb is that!

If you want to join the "dumbies" click this link (you really need broadband - very slow with dial-up)
