Friends Day (2ND
REMINDER)
Wednesday March 31 has been set aside as Friends Day. This is the day when
we invite someone from another club to join us in Hetero Triples. Dress is
mufti and play commences at 10.00 am. Last year this was a very popular
event; let us try to make the 2010 day just as memorable. Each team is
expected to have at least one visitor. There is no entry fee.
Entries to Lois Hook
8446121
We, the hosts, are expected to bring a plate for afternoon
tea and to contribute something that can be used on the raffle table.

Etiquette -
Following Your Bowl Up The Rink
After you have delivered a bowl and before it has come to rest you have two
options; (1) go behind the head, or (2) go behind the mat. If you want to
track your bowl's progress
you must
be behind the head when it stops. In other words you must
beat it to the head. If you don't go to the head
you must
be behind the mat when your bowl stops.

QUOTE
Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let
the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.
Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down..
Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve
it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments
that take our breath away. |

Life is full of
challenges
Just a reminder that we only
have a few weeks to our AGM (20 June) and we need to be looking at a full
panel of applicants for committee etc. We are desperately in need of a
volunteer for the secretarial position. Irene has done a tremendous job, for
which we are very grateful, but other pressures mean she is unable to carry
on in 2010 -2111, so we need help there. You do NOT
need to have shorthand skills. Neither does it have to be a position for a
female, so come on you folk out there. It's your
club. Take some ownership of it and put something back.
I look forward to your response.

COACHING CORNER
Basics Do Matter
All bowlers, irrespective of their skills level, should get their coach to
look at their bowling action at least once or twice a year. It is not
unusual for small faults to creep into your technique and thus reduce the
percentage of successful shots. Good coaches will not apply major surgery
but will help you to get rid of the problem. You will generally find the
winner of a game is the one who does the basics best.

Question: You have started measuring and a bowl falls over … Do you start
again?
YOU HAVE STARTED MEASURING AND A BOWL FALLS OVER
If a bowl falls of its own accord, it should be left in its new position while
deciding the number of shots scored continues.
All the shots agreed before the bowl fell will count. |

All
I Really Need to Know I Learned from my Dog
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy
ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Take naps and stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them
gently.
When you leave your yard, make it an adventure.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout -
run right back and make friends.
When you're excited, speak up.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want.
Don't go out without ID.
Be aware of when to hold your tongue, and when to use it.

Not Worth The Risk
A man
took his family to see Mel Gibson's "Passion" and he is inspired to take his
family to Israel to see the places where Jesus lived and died. While
there on holiday his mother-in-law died. An
undertaker in Tel Aviv explains to the man that they could ship the body back
home to Wisconsin at a cost of US $10,000 or she could be buried in Israel for
US $500.
The
man doesn't hesitate, "We'll ship her home" he says.
The
undertaker says "Are you sure? That's an awfully big expense, and we can do a
very nice burial here".
The man
says "Look, 2000 odd years ago they buried a guy here and three days later he
rose from the dead. I just can't take that risk". |
