My apologies if the following is
rather sketchy. I was playing in the Men's Fours so have
really no idea of scores or how close the other games were.
You will need to speak to others for a description. |
WOMEN'S FOURS FINAL
The Final of this event took place between
Angela Boyd (skip), Sheryl Glock, Marie Fenton, Barbara Exeter
and Sue Brock (skip), Del Girven, Maree Turner,
Lynda Boyd. Sue's team won - congratulations!

MEN'S PAIRS
Gary Heathcote & Alan Ferrick beat Ernie Friedlander &
Bryan Gilbertson so Gary and Alan (one life) then played
Ross Hamilton & Jack Philip (two lifers). Gary and Alan
won this game so ... at some future date ... Gary and
Alan will play Ross and Jack in the final.

MEN'S FOURS FINAL
Rolly Hoare (skip), John Calnan
(replacing Peter Thomson), Gary deRidder and Lyndsay Martin played the
final against Barry Hanlen (skip), Brian Annear, John Hanlen and John
McLaughlin. This game was neck and neck all the way through and really could
have gone any way. Going in to the last end the score was
locked at 13-13. Barry's team edged away at the very end to
take the game by a close two points.

PRE-SHOT ROUTINE
Lawn Bowls may best be described as a low intensity long endurance
sport.
Therefore the ability to focus or concentrate over a period of time is
a skill that needs to be included in training programmes.
A pre shot routine could be:
1.
Define the shot you are
going to play (draw, yard-on, drive, etc).
2.
Place the bowl in the
hand correctly.
3.
Establish the intended
line.
4.
Move onto the mat
ensuring the anchor foot and body is pointing directly along the
intended line.
5.
Think calm and relaxed.
6.
Put the feeling into your
body of how fast you need to bowl the bowl.
7.
Concentrate and deliver
the bowl.
8.
Analyse the result and
what correction if any will be required with the next bowl.

Progress during the men's singles |
ETIQUETTE FOR MARKERS
"So if you would a Marker be
Then make it worth your
while
To do the job quite
capably
And do it
with a smile."
When a player has delivered the jack the marker should centre
it then stand back and to one side, ensuring that all rink
markers are visible to the players.
He should answer any specific question (from the player in
possession of the rink) about the state of the head. He should
not offer any additional information that has not been
requested.
If you are unsure of the situation don't guess. You can offer
an opinion but make sure that the player who is asking the
question is made aware of this.
The marker should mark all touchers immediately they come to
rest and remove chalk marks from non touchers. He should also
remove all dead bowls from the rink with the players'
agreement. He should also mark the position the Jack which is
in the ditch.
The marker should not move any bowls until the end is complete
and the players have agreed the number of shots.
|
The happiest people do not necessarily
have the 'best' things.
They simply appreciate the things they have.
|
QUESTION:
Is there a set place where each member of a team should stand
during a game?
Law 36.1 Position of Players in relation to rink of play
Players at the mat end of the rink who are not playing a bowl
should stand at least 1 metre behind the mat. Players at the
head end of the rink who are not controlling play should stand
behind the jack and away from the head, on the surrounds of
the green if the jack is in the ditch, or well clear of head
if it is not possible to stand on the surrounds.
If at any time you feel like sitting down DO NOT sit on the
bank as this is the official playing field.

MEN
v WOMEN
A woman knows all about her children.
She knows about dentist
appointments and romances, best friends, favourite foods, secret fears
and hopes and dreams.
A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

A
Policeman, Ninja, and Terrorist
One day a policeman, a ninja, and a terrorist were on a plane.
The policeman threw his gun out the window for good luck.
The ninja threw his sword out the window for good luck.
The terrorist threw a bomb out the window for good luck.
Later, the policeman saw two little girls crying. He walked over to them
and said, "why are you crying?"
One girl replied, "Some idiot threw his gun out the window and it shot our
father."
The ninja saw two boys crying. He asked, "Why are you crying?"
The little boys said, "Some idiot threw a sword out the window and cut our
daddy in half."
The terrorist saw a little girl laughing hysterically. He said, "What's so
funny?"
The little girl replied, "My dad farted and the neighbour's house blew
up!" |
