Results Club-Only 2.4.2
Yesterday afternoon members almost filled both greens in a club-only 2.4.2. Hot breezy weather made bowling a little tricky but those who took part enjoyed the three games they played. Bruce Mitchell had just come off a very busy week (Chartered Clubs & Club Champs) yet he took time out to organise this. Thank you, Bruce. Thanks also to Wanda for baking and icing a beautiful cake as the prize in a special raffle which was won by Del.

Etiquette

The person on the head has no right to tell the Skip what to do. He may advise him if the head has been altered after the Skip has left it, but he must not control his play. The Etiquette in this case is to remain silent until the Skip asks for advice.

Coaching

Fluid Intake
If you want to maintain maximum concentration during a game of bowls it is important you keep up your water intake. This becomes even more critical when playing for lengthy periods. "A sip on the water bottle every second end" is a good suggestion. Avoid alcohol because it is a diuretic (increases unwanted dehydration).

Humour

"There's nothing wrong with saying hard luck!
Just learn to do it without the snigger."

The Law

Law 35            Possession of the Rink
Possession of the rink will belong to the player or team whose bowl is being played. As soon as each bowl has come to rest, allowing time to mark a toucher, possession of the rink will transfer to the opposing player/team. On end changeovers, do not walk in front of the player whose bowl is in motion until it has come to rest, as this player/team still has possession of the rink. The player may give you permission to do so, up until then you are to follow behind them.

Bowls Week - HUTT VALLEY (29 Dec - 4 Jan)
(Reminder No 2)

The Hutt and Silverstream Bowling Clubs cordially invite teams to enter for events in the Inaugural Hutt Valley Bowls Week. The Week is to replace the traditional Silverstream Triples and Hutt New Year Pairs with a mix of Bowls opportunities for both Men and Women.

We are also, with the generous assistance of the Hutt City i-SITE Visitor Centre, able to offer activities for partners, spouses and the “lay days” which will allow our visitors to take in some of the delights under offer in the Hutt. The proposal is that the Bowls Week will become an annual fixture in the years the Nationals are not being played in Wellington.

Thanks and Good Bowling
